Nexstar Media Group, Inc. in Chicago is seeking a digital reporter or producer for NewsNation to create stories that matter, clip videos, write headlines, and publish across digital platforms.

This 3-month, full-time temporary role starts early and runs roughly 4:30 am–12:30 pm in our Chicago newsroom. The ideal candidate has 2+ years in news, strong news judgment, video and social media experience, and excellent written and oral communication.

Qualifications

• 2+ years working in news as a digital reporter or producer.
• Strong news judgement and ability to determine when local stories have national appeal.
• Experience working with video and social media.
• Excellent communicator, both oral and written.
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, advertising or marketing or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.

Responsibilities

Position Description

• Create stories that maintain our high standards of journalism and differentiate our brand from our competitors
• Create or clip videos that help viewers and readers understand what matters in news stories
• Craft compelling headlines, push alerts and social posts while delivering stories that make a difference
• Edit wire and local network-affiliated content for a national audience to ensure standards for journalistic integrity and production quality are met
• Showcase broadcast segments for publishing across all digital platforms and social media channels
• Utilize SEO best practices
• Hours will generally be 4:30 am to 12:30 pm, but may change as needed.
• Flexibility to adjust schedule and assignments as network’s needs evolve.
• This full-time temporary position will be for approximately 3 months, and will be based in our Chicago newsroom

Compensation Range: $30.00/hourly
