Job summary

TridentCare is seeking a phlebotomist to travel to client facilities, primarily nursing homes, to collect blood samples and ensure proper labeling and data submission.

The role requires current licensure if needed, phlebotomy proficiency, a valid driver's license and auto insurance, and strong English communication. You will work with dispatch, labs, and couriers, maintaining equipment and records in a professional manner.

Qualifications

  • Must have current clinical licensure, if required by State.
  • Must possess knowledge of medical terminology as it relates to laboratory purposes.
  • Proficient in phlebotomy procedures, including venipuncture, tourniquet application/removal and decontamination of puncture site.
  • Knowledge of specimen preservation, patient preparation and specimen procedures.
  • Must have a current and valid Driver's License and Auto Insurance.
  • Must have access to a vehicle in good working condition meeting daily driving requirements.
  • Must maintain a good driving record.
  • Must understand resident rights and patient care and the patient right to refuse.
  • Ability to obtain blood specimens from patients under various conditions.
  • Proficient in written/verbal skills in English.

Responsibilities

  • Drive to client facilities (mostly nursing homes) to collect blood samples as directed by the dispatcher or Area Phlebotomy Supervisor/Area Lead.
  • Follow established phlebotomy procedures for obtaining blood samples from patients.
  • Identify patients correctly before drawing blood.
  • Label specimens properly and ensure requisitions include patient billing information.
  • Transport PHI according to policy and maintain HIPAA compliance.
  • Plan and organize draw schedule prioritizing patients.
  • Complete logs, time sheets, and other records neatly and accurately.
  • Coordinate with dispatch, payroll, laboratory, and courier teams.
  • Maintain all equipment and report issues to the Area Phlebotomy Supervisor.
  • Be available on duty via company mobile device and notify dispatch for future assignments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Area Phlebotomy Supervisor.

Pay range, based on experience: $23 - $25
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Employee will drive their personal vehicle (unless other accommodations are made) to client facilities (mostly nursing homes) as directed by company dispatcher or assigned Area Phlebotomy Supervisor/ Area Lead.
  • Follows established phlebotomy procedures for obtaining blood samples from patients.
  • Properly and accurately identify patients according to TridentCare phlebotomy patient identification policy prior to drawing.
  • Ensures that specimens are properly labeled, in the proper tube and accompanied by a completed requisition, including patient billing information prior to transport.
  • Follows TridentCare phlebotomy policy on transporting PHI.
  • Plans, organizes draw schedule with attention to priority of patients.
  • Completes written logs, time sheets and other required records in a neat and accurate manner.
  • Works cooperatively with dispatch, payroll, laboratory and courier departments.
  • Maintains all equipment in good working order and reports problem immediately to Area Phlebotomy Supervisor.
  • When on-duty, answers company issued mobile device promptly and is ready and available to work.
  • Notifies dispatch of availability for future assignment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Area Phlebotomy Supervisor.

  • Must be able to work under minimal supervision and accurately maintain time sheet records.
  • Must understand and be knowledgeable of the resident rights, patient care and patient right to refuse.
  • Ability to obtain blood specimens from patients under a variety of patient conditions.
  • Proficient in written/verbal skills in the English Language.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with clients, patients, public and all staff members.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to take directions and conduct self in a professional manner.
