Pay range, based on experience: $19 - $23
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Drive personal vehicle (or alternative accommodations) to client facilities (primarily nursing homes) as directed by dispatcher or supervisor.
- Follow established phlebotomy procedures for blood sample collection.
- Identify patients correctly according to policy before drawing blood.
- Ensure specimens are properly labeled, in the correct tube, and accompanied by a completed requisition with billing info.
- Follow policies on transporting PHI.
- Plan and organize draw schedules prioritizing patients appropriately.
- Maintain accurate logs, time sheets, and records.
- Collaborate with dispatch, payroll, laboratory, and courier departments.
- Maintain equipment and report issues promptly.
- Answer company mobile device promptly when on duty and stay available for work.
- Notify dispatch of availability for future assignments.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
- Current clinical licensure, if required by state.
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to laboratory work.
- Proficient in phlebotomy techniques, including venipuncture and site decontamination.
- Knowledge of specimen preservation and patient preparation.
- Valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
- Access to a suitable vehicle in good condition.
- Good driving record.
- Ability to work independently and maintain accurate time records.
- Understanding of patient rights and refusal rights.
- Ability to obtain blood samples under various patient conditions.
- Proficient in English communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with clients, patients, and staff.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and follow directions professionally.
Qualifications and Behaviors
Education
Technical or other training preferred.
Licenses & Certifications
- Auto Insurance (required)
- Driver’s License (required)
- CPT/Phleb Cert - Level 1 (required)
