The Department of Flood Control was created July 7, 1945 by an Act of the California State Legislature. The District (2700 sq. mi.) is located in the western portion of Riverside County (7200 sq. mi.). It extends easterly far enough to include the cities of Palm Springs, Desert Hot Springs, and a portion of Cathedral City. The District is governed by a Board of Supervisors comprised of the same individuals as the Riverside County Board of Supervisors.

  • Use a variety of hand and power tools; operate dump trucks to load, haul and deliver a variety of debris and materials; operate water spray trucks, loaders, mowers and other light motorized equipment.

Experience: One year of performing construction work or field maintenance work (e.g., roads, flood control facilities, refuse sites, recycling facilities, public works projects or closely related work) which required operation of light trucks and related construction equipment.

Knowledge of: The operation and maintenance of trucks and light motorized equipment; equipment and traffic safety procedures; the tools and materials commonly used in field maintenance, recycling, or construction work.
