Position Overview

Position title: Temporary Lecturer

Salary range: $70,977–$77,561 (2025‑26 UC salary scales)

Location: La Jolla, CA

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Commitment of 10 weeks teaching per course.
• Demonstrate ability to teach undergraduate students and/or advise graduate students.
• Create course syllabi with student assignments.
• Complete grading through e‑Grades system.
• Complete Student Certification for the Commencement of Academic Activities.
• Provide at least two office hours per week, per course; office hours can be remote.

Basic Qualifications

Qualified candidates will possess an MFA (or 3‑5 years of professional experience) and at least three years of teaching experience or specialized field expertise in the theatre or dance discipline.

Professional experience demonstrates consistent employment in the appropriate discipline; examples include resident and regional theatres, operas, concert halls, cinema, museums, galleries, festivals, national theatres, corporate events, cultural and community venues, international institutions, and commercial theatres such as Broadway and Off‑Broadway.

Demonstrated Accomplishments

Positive teaching/mentoring evaluations, student support letters, peer or professional reviews, artist residencies, peer‑reviewed publications, creative research endeavors, and applicable grants, awards, honors, or nominations.
