Salary range: $78,314 -$85,576.

Position description

Temporary positions are anticipated for lecturers in Civil and Environmental Engineering. A list of courses that may be available during 2026-2027 academic years is attached. An updated list is available on the department website at Civil and Environmental Engineering. Courses will be conducted in person on the main UC Davis Campus in Davis, CA.

Appointment Date: Several appointments may be made each year. A selected candidate may be assigned only one course in any quarter. Service dates are:

  • Fall Quarter 2026: September 21, 2026 - December 4, 2026
  • Winter Quarter 2027: January 4, 2027 - March 19, 2027
  • Spring Quarter 2027: March 25, 2027 - June 10, 2027

Duties and Responsibilities: Teach one or more lectures and/or laboratory courses in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering during the academic year.

Salary: The posted salary rate range is for an 100% appointment teaching an average of 3 courses per quarter, but the average expected appointment for a Unit 18 Lecturer position may be 25-33% over the course of 1 quarter which is 10-11 weeks.

Example of Courses: An example of courses in Engineering (ENG) and Civil Engineering (ECI) which may be available during 2026 -2027 pending availability of funding include but are not limited to:

  • ECI 132 - Spring Course: Structural Design: Metallic Elements (4 units)
  • ECI 134 - Winter Course: Structural Loads: Calculation & Modeling (4 units)
  • ECI 189 - Winter Course: "Innovation for Impact: Climate / Sustainability" (4 units)
  • ECI 189 - Spring Course: "Innovation for Impact: Civic and Community (4 units)

Qualifications
Basic qualifications
  • Minimum professional degree requirement is a Master's in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or extensive university-level/higher education teaching experience in a relevant area; although exceptions may be made for exceptional candidates with strong and relevant experience in both practice and teaching
Additional qualifications
  • Evidence of teaching excellence or potential for excellence, and a commitment to inclusive and quality undergraduate education
Preferred qualifications
  • preferably a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering
