Job summary

Northfield Hospital + Clinics is seeking an HIM Data Abstractor to review and abstract clinical and demographic information from paper and external sources into the Northfield EMR. This temporary role supports data integrity, regulatory compliance, and quality initiatives while safeguarding patient privacy.

The position is onsite in Northfield, MN, with a wage range of $20.27-$28.61 per hour, and requires attention to detail, knowledge of medical terminology, and teamwork within the HIM

Qualifications

• Experience in medical record abstraction, chart review or related field.
• Must be able to speak, read, and write English proficiently.

Responsibilities

• Review and abstract patient information from paper and electronic records into the EMR.
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and correct categorization of data.
• Identify and resolve inconsistencies and incomplete documentation.
• Support external information review and reconciliation for care continuity.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and regulatory requirements.
• Work as part of an interdisciplinary health care team and communicate professionally.
