Job Description

We are now hiring summer temporary maintenance workers! Whether you're looking for temporary work for extra income through the summer months or testing out a new position before making a long-term commitment, we encourage you to apply. Pay rate of $19.502 per hour to start. If utilized by the Agency, and at the discretion of the District, those who currently possess a CDL may be promoted to the Worker Senior level at the rate of $20.998 per hour.

D3 Locations hiring: Albion, Bloomfield, Clarkson, Columbus, Crofton, Hartington, Humphrey, Laurel, Lyons, Neligh, Newcastle, Niobrara, Norfolk, Plainview, South Sioux City, Wayne, and West Point. These are summer positions, temporary, until November 30, 2025. Hours may vary depending on weather, and may be more or less than 40 hours per week.

Job Duties

• Perform heavy equipment operation for road maintenance.
• Perform tree trimming.
• Respond to highway emergencies.
• Safely move, drag, lift, load, and unload equipment, materials, supplies, and hazardous materials within weight restrictions.
• Spread and tamp surfacing materials.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements/Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Highway Maintenance Worker: Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver's license.

Highway Maintenance Worker/Senior: Must be at least 18, possess a valid driver's license, and have a Class A or B Commercial Driver's License with air brakes and tanker endorsements within 60 days of employment.

Preferred: Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License and experience operating heavy equipment.

Other: May require out-of-town, overnight travel. Regular and reliable attendance is required. Must be reachable to report to highway emergencies outside scheduled hours within a specific time frame.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include the ability to safely move, drag, lift 35 pounds frequently, up to 60 pounds occasionally (without assistance), and 90+ pounds infrequently (with assistance); climb, bend, or stoop; work in outdoor temperature extremes; and work around high-speed traffic.
