Job summary

Fall Mountain Regional School District invites applications for a Custodian at Fall Mountain Regional High School (FMRHS). The position is 40 hours per week on a temporary basis and reports to the Facilities Director.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, experience with cleaning equipment, and a valid driver's license. Responsibilities include cleaning, snow removal, and ensuring a safe, clean school environment for students and staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Knowledge of cleaning and maintenance of buildings and grounds.
• Ability to read and follow written procedures and manuals.
• Must operate buffing machines, scrubbers, vacuums, and other cleaning equipment.
• Valid driver's license and transportation required for multi-school service.
• Qualifications may be substituted by the Superintendent on a case-by-case basis.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, scrub floors with a floor scrubber, and vacuum as assigned.
• Maintain floor finish through stripping, waxing, burnishing, and polishing as assigned.
• Clean and disinfect sanitary fixtures and replenish supplies daily.
• Dust surfaces daily, move furniture as required, and wipe high/low areas.
• Wash windows and light fixtures; clean banisters and stairways.
• Perform routine snow removal/ice control in entryways and sidewalks.
• Open/close building; secure doors/windows and ensure lights are off.
• Communicate with students, teachers, and administrators pleasantly.
• Collaborate with district maintenance staff for area repairs.
• Promote safety, health, and comfort of students and employees.

Position Title: Custodian (FMRHS),40 hrs/wk

Job Classification: Temporary

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma/GED required
• Knowledge of skills necessary in the cleaning and maintenance of buildings and grounds.
• Must possess the ability to read, interpret and follow written procedures of the department, instruction manuals of any machines that he or she may be required to operate, and other job related materials
• Must be able to operate buffing machines, scrubbers, vacuums, and other cleaning equipment.
• Ability to drive and possession of a valid driver's license and transportation (required for positions that provide service to multiple schools)
• Substitution of qualifications may be considered on a case basis by the Superintendent.

Reports to: Facilities Director

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Agreement between the FMRSD and the Fall Mountain Regional Educational Support Personnel Association.

Job Goal: Maintain the school and grounds in a clean and operating condition for the most conducive educational atmosphere possible at all times.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Sweeping, mopping, scrubbing hard floors with a floor scrubber, and vacuuming as assigned
• Maintain floor finish on a regular basis stripping, waxing, burnishing and polishing as assigned
• Clean and disinfect all sanitary fixtures and replenishes supplies on a daily basis
• Dust, polish surfaces daily, high and low and move furniture or equipment as required
• Wash windows, clean light fixtures, banister, rail, stairway and other items which are subject to collecting dust and cobwebs
• Perform routine snow removal/ice control chores not done by contract snow removal including all entry ways and sidewalks
• Assume responsibility, when required, for the opening and closing of the building, determining that all doors and windows are secured and that all lights are turned off
• Communicate and remain in contact with students, teachers and administrators in a pleasant and cooperative manner
• Work as a team member with the district maintenance staff in the accomplishment of repairs to be completed within his/her area of responsibility
• Strive constantly to promote the safety, health and comfort of the students and employees
