Job summary

Columbia Hospitality’s Useless Bay Golf and Country Club on Whidbey Island is seeking a Temporary Facilities Maintenance role. The position runs for 3 to 6 months, starting in early October, and covers maintenance tasks across the club’s building and systems.

You will handle electrical and mechanical upkeep, carpentry tasks, and general repairs while ensuring tools, safety features and storerooms stay organized. After-hours response is included.

Qualifications

• Journeyman level or 2+ years in building maintenance preferred.
• Ability to complete work orders promptly and safely.
• Fundamental understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the building’s physical appearance and systems.
• Perform electrical and mechanical maintenance and repairs.
• Keep storerooms organized and tools properly stored.
• Respond to after-hours calls as needed.
• Complete delegated work orders in a timely, professional manner.

This Temporary Position is expected to begin in early October to fill in for a Leave of Absence. The Temporary Position is expected to last 3 to 6 months.

What Success Looks Like:

Your Impact

• Maintain the building’s physical appearance and working order of the club as well as assistance of the mechanical, electrical and plumbing system functionality and general upkeep.


• Ensure the security, cleanliness, preventative maintenance and repair of all engineering department tools, equipment and safety features are in accordance with established procedures and budgets.


• Ensure all maintenance and engineering storerooms and work areas are kept in a clean and orderly manner and storing all tools, equipment and spare parts in proper location.


• Responsible for the proper treatment and care of tools and equipment used to perform tasks.


• Responsible to complete delegated work orders in a timely and professional manner.


• Respond to after-hour calls as necessary.


• Reports and addresses unsafe conditions immediately.


• Other tasks as assigned.

What You Bring

• Must be able to complete all types of work orders generated for engineering.


• Must have a general understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.


• Journeymen level experience or equivalent in a trade or 2+ years in building maintenance experience preferred.


• Ability to effectively perform painting, woodworking, and general carpentry.


• Ability to perform maintenance and general repair.


• Must have knowledge and the ability to operate tools, hand tools and power tools in a safe and efficient manner.


• Must be flexible and able to perform multiple tasks and work in stressful situations.
