Job summary

Henrico County Public Schools seeks an ELA (English Language Acquisition) instructor to deliver in‑person classes for adult students, focused on basic English language instruction, civics education, and workplace readiness. General Statement of Duties

ELA (English Language Acquisition) classes are available in‑person and feature basic English Language Instruction/Civics Education/Workplace Readiness Skills. Under the guidance of the ELA Coordinator, teach in‑person classes to adult students in skills and knowledge that will lead to further education, employment, and personal success.

• Plan, organize and deliver instruction to meet individual and group learning needs utilizing state guidelines and division curriculum.
• Effectively manage the classroom.
• Faithful and prompt attendance and support and enforce board and building regulations and policies.
• Exhibit professional behavior while following the Code of Conduct.
• Maintain a safe and healthy environment.
• Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and email applications that are common in an office environment.
• Regular attendance is required.

Additional Information

This is a school year position (August–May).

Once established, can teach in this position each year.

Can make your own schedule based on opening hours of center and assigned classes and can teach at either location or both.

Minimum Requirements

A bachelor's degree is required.
