Job summary

Saint James Catholic School in Savannah, GA is seeking an Early Learning Center Substitute Teacher for a maternity leave coverage of approximately 6–12 weeks. The role reports to the Director of the Early Learning Center and starts around February 20, 2026.

Candidates must meet state standards (Bright from the Start) and GELDS, with a focus on professional conduct and Catholic school values. Completion of background checks and Virtus Training is required.

Qualifications

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Bachelor’s degree with the equivalent of six (6) college credits in early childhood education; OR an Associate’s degree with an emphasis in child development or early childhood education.
• Employment is contingent upon passing criminal background and reference checks and completing Virtus Training.

Responsibilities

• Ensure instruction aligns with Georgia Bright from the Start Licensing Rules and Regulations.
• Follow GELDS (2014) guidelines for early learning standards in planning and teaching.
• Maintain professional conduct in alignment with Catholic school policies.

Education

Bachelor’s degree with six credits in early childhood education

Associate’s degree with emphasis in child development or early childhood education
