Job summary

Miami Valley School in Dayton, Ohio, seeks a dynamic Long-Term Sub: Director of College Counseling to guide students and families through the spring 2027 college‑search and application processes. This temporary role reports to the Upper School director, with involvement in immersion experiences and SEL initiatives.

The ideal candidate has extensive college counseling experience, strong communication and organizational skills, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in college counseling and/or admissions.
• Bachelor's degree or higher preferred.
• Experience with Scoir for college counseling and admissions processes.

Responsibilities

• Direct all aspects of the college counseling program on a temporary basis to support a leave of absence.
• Counsel approximately 30 seniors and their families through the college selection process.
• Counsel 34 junior students and their families through the college search process.
• Organize and present after-school/evening programs on admissions topics.
• Teach a junior college counseling course in the spring.
• Assist students in identifying strengths and connecting them to future goals and college plans.
• Serve as College Board testing coordinator for PSAT/NMSQT.
• Keep current on trends in college admissions and share with school leadership.
• Provide college admissions information to leaders and faculty.
