Job summary

Worcester Polytechnic Institute - WPI in Worcester is seeking a Temporary Custodian to perform custodial duties in campus buildings and maintain areas and equipment in a neat, clean, and sanitary condition. The role requires following a supervisor's assignments, operating cleaning equipment, and participating in snow removal and event setup.

It is a part-time, six-month position, 4 hours daily, 5 days per week, with a hourly rate of $19 depending on experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to operate various types of cleaning equipment, both powered and non-powered.
• Successful completion of a CORI background check and a valid driver’s license check.
• Three professional references required.
• Temporary part-time six month position: 4 hours per day / 5 days a week.

Responsibilities

• Receives assignments in verbal or written form from a supervisor.
• Follows a routine schedule using approved procedures. Maintains various flooring types; dusts and washes walls, partitions, and windows; cleans and sanitizes bathrooms, showers, locker rooms, and other facilities.
• Removes trash and performs other related duties as assigned.
• Unlocks and locks various interior and exterior building doors as assigned.
• Opens and maintains power-operated custodial equipment.
• Moves and relocates furniture, small equipment, and other items not requiring rigging.
• During winter, clears snow and debris from steps and sidewalks and treats surfaces for ice.
• Sets up, assists with, and restores facilities for sponsored events.
• Occasionally lifts up to 60 lbs.
