Job summary

Hackensack Public Schools seeks a Leave Replacement for a Bilingual and ESL Teacher at Fanny Meyer Hillers Elementary School for the 2026-2027 school year. The role focuses on Kindergarten Bilingual Ed/ESL instruction for multilingual students with varying English proficiency levels.

Qualifications

• New Jersey Teacher of Elementary School, Bilingual/Bicultural, and ESL certification required.
• Experience teaching Bilingual Education or ESL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver standards-based instruction aligned with the New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS) and WIDA English Language Development Standards.
• Design and implement engaging lessons that integrate language and content objectives to develop students' listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
• Apply research-based practices in bilingual education, second language acquisition, literacy, and numeracy to support multilingual learners.
• Differentiate instruction, scaffolds, and assessments to meet the academic, linguistic, and developmental needs of students with varying levels of English proficiency.
• Use formative and summative assessment data to monitor student progress, guide instruction, maintain accurate records, and communicate student growth.
• Foster a safe, inclusive, culturally responsive, and well-organized classroom that supports students' academic, social-emotional, and language development.
• Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, technology, and resources to engage diverse learners and promote student independence.
• Collaborate with families, colleagues, administrators, and support staff to promote student achievement and provide appropriate interventions.
• Supervise and provide direction to paraprofessionals to ensure effective classroom support and student success.
