DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

UC Online advances systemwide initiatives, infrastructure, and innovation in online education. We coordinate policy, manage technology, and support all members of the campus community in expanding UC’s capacity for high-quality digital learning.

POSITION SUMMARY

This is a TEMPORARY position within our Temporary Office of the President Staffing (TOPS) program.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Involves managing or performing the administrative services or managing the full general operations of an academic or non-academic organization(s).

Administrative services include activities in finance and human resources and may also include IT, facilities, or student services.

General management activities include long and short range strategic planning in determining the mission and directing all activities of multi-disciplinary departments through subordinate management staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Thorough knowledge of University rules and regulations, processes, protocols and procedures for budget, account and fund management, personnel management.

Thorough knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques, human resources policies and procedures for staff and academic employees.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of a variety of administrative operations activities such as events planning, basic fundraising processes, risk management planning, website design, accounting and payroll, and contracts and grants regulations and guidelines.

Knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs.

Interpersonal communication skills to include verbal and written, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skill

Strong skills in short term planning, analysis and problem-solving and customer service.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

This is a represented position and is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The person hired will be required to reside within California and will be required to report to work onsite at UC’s Office of the President (UCOP) located in Oakland, CA.

OTHER INFORMATION

This position is governed by the terms and conditions in the agreement for the Clerical & Allied Services Unit (CX) between the University of California and Teamsters Local 2010.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

The University of California, Office of the President, is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the salary grade for a position. The full salary range shows the growth potential for this position.

Salary Grade: Grade 114

PayScale/ budgeted hourly range: $38.20/hour - $39.15/hour. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
