Job summary
Straight and Narrow, headquartered in Paterson, NJ, seeks a Temporary/ Acting Program Director of Men's Tx/HWH and Detox to oversee daily operations across Alpha houses, Outpatient, and Medically managed programs.
The role requires extensive NJ licensure in psychology, social work, counseling, or related fields, with supervisory experience and certification. Travel between locations in NJ is required; compensation is negotiable.
Qualifications
- Be a New Jersey licensed psychologist with at least five years of experience in addiction services, two in a supervisory capacity, with appropriate certification or licensure.
- Be a New Jersey licensed clinical social worker with at least five years in addiction services, two in supervision, and APCBNJ certification.
- Be a New Jersey licensed professional counselor or licensed marriage and family therapist with five years in addiction services, two in supervision, with APCBNJ certification.
- Be a New Jersey LCADC with five years in addiction services, two in supervision, plus a recognized clinical Master’s degree.
- Be a New Jersey licensed physician certified by ASAM or a Board-certified psychiatrist with two years of supervisory experience.
- Be a New Jersey licensed advanced practice nurse with five years in addiction services, two in supervision, with APCBNJ certification.
- Incumbents with a master’s in counseling or social work must obtain LCADC status or a health professional license covering addiction work by 2016.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily program operations for Alpha houses, Outpatient, and Medically managed programs.
- Ensure delivery of quality treatment and care in line with regulatory requirements and organization values.
- Act as liaison between Straight & Narrow and Drug Court Team members including TASC Evaluator, Probation Dept., Judges, and Prosecutors.

The Program Director is responsible for overseeing the daily program operations of Alpha houses, Outpatient and Medically managed program planning; and ensuring the provision of quality treatment and care for clients in accordance with the requirements of all regulating bodies, Straight & Narrows's mission, vision, values and philosophy of treatment. Act as a liaison between Straight & Narrow and members of the Drug Court Team, including the TASC Evaluator, Probation Department, Drug Court Coordinators, Judges, Prosecutors, etc. Travel between location is required.

- Be a New Jersey licensed psychologist with at least five years of experience in addiction services, two of those years in a supervisory capacity, who possesses a Certification of Proficiency in the Treatment of Alcohol and other Psychoactive Substance Use Disorders from the American Psychological Association, College of Professional Psychology, or is a Certified Clinical Supervisor by the Addictions Professionals Certification Board of New Jersey (APCBNJ); or
- Be a New Jersey licensed clinical social worker with at least five years of experience in addiction services, two of those years in a supervisory capacity, who is a certified clinical supervisor by the APCBNJ
- Be a New Jersey licensed professional counselor, or licensed marriage and family therapist, with at least five years of experience in addiction services, two of those years in a supervisory capacity, who is a certified clinical supervisor by the APCBNJ; or
- Be a New Jersey LCADC with at least five years of experience in addiction services, two of those years in a supervisory capacity, who, in addition, holds a clinical Master's degree recognized by the State Board of Marriage and Family Therapy Examiners, Alcohol and Drug Committee, Division of Consumer Affairs, New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety; or
- Be a New Jersey licensed physician who is certified by the American Society of Addiction Medicine, or is a Board-certified psychiatrist, and has at least two years of supervisory experience in addiction services.
- Be a New Jersey licensed advanced practice nurse with at least five years of experience in addiction services, two of those years in a supervisory capacity, who is a clinical supervisor certified by the APCBNJ, or
- Have a doctoral degree in human services, mental health, or social work with at least two years of supervisory experience.
- Incumbents with a master's degree in counseling or social work not possessing any of the qualifications set forth in (a)1 through 6 above, shall obtain LCADC status or another health professional license that includes diagnostic and supervisory authority for work of an alcohol and drug counseling nature by July 15, 2016.
