Job summary

Abilities First, Inc. is seeking patient, energetic Teacher Aides for its Educational Learning Experience program in New Windsor, NY. You will work with an interdisciplinary team, support classroom activities, and help students access learning opportunities across abilities.

Hours are Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm (32.5 hours/week). This is a full-time, temporary role with a salary range of $16.88–$17.88 per hour.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience within early childhood and special education preferred.
• Ability to push and pull students in wheelchairs, lift, bend, squat, pivot and grasp with both hands, with or without accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Follows classroom schedule to achieve individual student goals.
• Assists in classroom to conduct individual and group activities.
• Keeps student workstations/areas organized.
• Assists in construction of teacher-developed materials.
• Attends staff meetings and job skill training.
• Attends therapy sessions with students for appropriate carryover.
• Organizes classroom to provide a conducive learning environment.
• Assists in mobility and orientation of students with supportive equipment.
