Job summary

Abilities First, Inc. in New Windsor, NY is seeking a Teacher Aide for the Educational Learning Experience program. The role supports the teacher in delivering curriculum to all school-age children and helps maintain a conducive classroom environment.

Hours are Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm, totaling 32.5 hours per week. This is a full-time, temporary position with a salary range of $16.88–$17.88 per hour. Prior experience in early education is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in early childhood and/or special education preferred.
• Ability to push/pull students in wheelchairs and assist with transfers and lifting.

Responsibilities

• Follow the classroom schedule to achieve individual goals.
• Assist in classroom activities and adapt materials for students.
• Attend staff meetings and job skill training.
• Escort and assist students to and from school buses to promote independence.
• Set up computers and related adaptive equipment for student use.
