Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in Hillsboro, OR is seeking a Temporary RN in the Emergency Department. You will provide comprehensive nursing care, perform multi-system assessments, and collaborate with the healthcare team to plan and evaluate patient care during hospitalization.

The role requires an Oregon RN license, BLS, ACLS, ENPC or PALS within 6 months, NIH Stroke Scale within 3 months, and at least nine months of RN experience with ED exposure or Kaiser’s New Grad Internship in ED.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current Registered Nurse License in Oregon.
• BLS required at hire; ACLS; Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of hire; NIH Stroke Scale Certificate within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate multi-system assessments.
• Identify deviations from normal on routine lab tests and reassess patients.
• Develop individualized plans of care sensitive to patient development.
• Coordinate care and discharge planning with other departments and agencies.
• Initiate measures based on protocols for medical/surgical patients.
• Document care in the EMR according to policy.
• Evaluate assessment methods, plans of care, and patient responses to treatment.
• Participate in unit quality assurance activities.

About This Role

The TEMP RN in the Emergency Department will utilize clinical judgment skills to diagnose and treat health problems, providing comprehensive nursing care for patients while collaborating with the healthcare team.

What You'll Do

• Perform accurate multi-system assessments, including biophysical, psychosocial, and educational needs.
• Identify deviations from normal on routine lab diagnostic tests and reassess patients throughout hospitalization.
• Develop individual nursing plans of care sensitive to patient developmental needs.
• Coordinate patient care activities and discharge planning with other departments and agencies.
• Initiate appropriate measures based on protocols for medical and/or surgical patients.
• Document care accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR) according to policy and procedure.
• Evaluate assessment methods, plan of care, and patient responses to treatment.
• Participate in unit quality assurance activities.

Requirements

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program

Experience

• Minimum nine (9) months of RN experience
• One (1) year of current ED experience or successful completion of the Kaiser Permanente New Grad Internship Program in the ED

Licenses & Certifications

• Current Registered Nurse License in Oregon
• Basic Life Support required at hire
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support
