Job summary

Planned Parenthood California Central Coast (PPCCC) is seeking a Medical Assistant to support reproductive health services with compassionate, patient-centered care. You will handle patient intake, data entry in NextGen, and coordination of appointments in a busy clinical setting.

The role requires a Medical Assistant Certificate and at least one year of health care or customer service experience. Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus, with a $1.00/hour bilingual differential after language

Responsibilities

• Assist with prescription refill visits.
• Comply with infection control, safety and emergency guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Follow all PPCCC policies for mandated reporting.

Each year, PPCCC provides 28,000 people on the central coast with health care services; including sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment, birth control, breast and cervical cancer screenings, vasectomies, and safe and legal abortion care at our six health center locations. PPCCC also provides comprehensive sexuality education programs to help adults and teens make healthy decisions, prevent unintended pregnancies, and avoid sexually transmitted infection.

JOB SUMMARY

Primarily responsible for activities related to clients seeking reproductive services specifically patient intake for reproductive health services. Must be able to work on computers and assist clients in a patient, non-judgmental, empathetic manner and provide excellent customer service with a tone that is nurturing and accommodating to all.

Schedule

40 hrs/week

Essential Functions

• Greet patients, make appointments, prepare and assemble patient information, process lab results.
• Enter patient information as part of EHR in NextGen.
• Maintain patient records, checking for completeness, errors, signatures.
• Complete related financial paperwork for clients.
• Copy/transfer medical information/charts as needed and per PPCCC guidelines.
• Assist with prescription refill visits.
• Comply with infection control, safety and emergency guidelines.
• Perform such other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
• Follow all mandated reporting PPCCC policies.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Medical Assistant Certificate is required
• Excellent written and verbal communications.
• Excellent computer skills, experience with Electronic Health Care systems preferred.
• Ability to relate to diverse communities,
• Accuracy and attention to detail.
• Work independently and as a team member.
• Availability to work flexible hours, as required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

English-Spanish-Mixteco trilingual skills are desirable.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Medical Assistant Certificate.
• One (1) year proven Customer Service experience/health care background preferred.

Planned Parenthood California Central Coast's (PPCCC's) compensation philosophy supports the organization’s mission, vision, and values. Each position has a salary based on market value and the organization’s pay levels. The starting salary for this position is $ 26.57/hour with the opportunity for advancement. As part of our commitment to pay equity, PPCCC does not negotiate salaries.

Pay Differential: $1.00/hour bilingual Spanish/English differential pay is offered upon passing the language assessment test.
