Job summary

BioLabs is a global life sciences hub seeking a Lab Operations Manager for our Long Island City, NY site. This temporary, on-site role runs January through June 2027 and reports to the Site Director.

Qualifications

• Minimum bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, genetics, or related life sciences; master’s degree preferred.
• At least five years of lab management experience in academic or commercial labs.
• Two years of supervisory or managerial experience.
• Knowledge of cellular, molecular, and microbiology techniques and waste management.
• On-call availability and ability to respond after hours.
• Strong understanding of resident company milestones and commercialization.
• Customer service oriented with excellent work ethic.
• Detail oriented with focus on quality control.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily lab and facility operations, including emergency responses.
• Manage equipment purchasing, maintenance, and vendor relationships.
• Serve as site EHS officer, update chemical inventories and waste protocols.
• Ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
• Oversee onboarding/offboarding of residents and training.
• Maintain lab supply inventory and space allocation.
• Handle after-hours on-call issues with independent judgment.
• Collaborate with network teams to share best practices.
• Support broader BioLabs initiatives and projects.
