Job summary

Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, is seeking a Laboratory Assistant for a 4-month, full-time on-site temp position to gain phlebotomy skills. Responsibilities include specimen receipt, processing, storage, and clerical duties with computer systems. Schedule is 2:00pm-10:30pm; every other weekend.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of laboratory functions and medical terminology.
• Background in science and 1–2 years medical experience preferred.
• Must be organized and able to work in a fast-paced environment; capable of both independent and team work.

Responsibilities

• Receive and verify biological specimens (blood, urine).
• Process and store specimens; maintain sample integrity.
• Perform clerical tasks and pre-analytic processing; manage inventory and filing.
• Operate various computer information systems daily.
