Qualifications

• One year of diagnostic and procedure coding experience in a hospital, health care facility, or physician's office.
• Completion of a medical coding program whereby the necessary skills were obtained to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
• Knowledge of coding systems (ICD/CPT) and UHDDS standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Code and abstract routine patient records using ICD and CPT guidelines and conventions.
• Assist OSHPD reporting by determining accurate DRG identification for proper reimbursement.
• Review medical records to verify coding and DRG assignments for billing requests.
• Respond to requests from agencies regarding DRG coding questions.
• Maintain current knowledge of coding guidelines through continuing education.
