Job summary

Linn Benton Lincoln ESD is seeking a Temporary Instructional Assistant II for the EI/ECSE program in Lincoln County. This 1.0 FTE, 190-day position supports students, families and staff by facilitating instruction and assisting with daily activities in preschool settings.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent, strong communication skills, and experience working with children with disabilities.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Relevant college level coursework preferred.
• Three years experience working with children in paid or volunteer capacity.
• Knowledge of developmental and physical disabilities in children.
• Experience as a member of a teaching team.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Computer programs including word processing and databases.
• Finger-print-based criminal history record verification.
• Alternatives to certain qualifications may apply as deemed by the Superintendent and/or Board of Directors.

Responsibilities

• Carry-out specialist’s plans for instruction during individual and small group activities.
• Carry-out specialist’s plans for children in community preschool settings.
• Assist in implementation of behavior programs.
• Assist in lifting physically disabled children.
• Work with children to improve eating, dressing, hygiene and toileting skills.
• Stimulate language through receptive and expressive programs or augmentative communication strategies.
• Keep data as required by the specialist.
• Keep teaching materials and equipment in order.
• Prepare bulletin boards, room decorations and other materials as requested.
• Follow nursing/feeding protocols as trained, which may include administering medication and recording seizure activity.
• Assist with playground and bus duty.
• Complete data entry, typing and filing as requested.
• Assist in IFSP paperwork preparation and completion.
