Job summary

Linn Benton Lincoln ESD in Corvallis, Oregon, seeks a Substitute Instructional Assistant for Early Childhood Special Education to support preschool students with disabilities. This on-call role partners with families and colleagues to foster academic, social, and behavioral growth in a dynamic learning environment.

The ideal candidate is at least 18, has a high school diploma or equivalent, and can follow specialist plans, assist with behavior programs, and manage routine data entry.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of developmental and physical disabilities in children.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of computer programs including word processing and databases.
• Meet requirements of finger-print-based criminal history record verification.

Responsibilities

• Carry-out specialist’s plans for instruction during individual and small group activities.
• Carry-out specialist’s plans for children in community preschool settings.
• Assist in implementation of behavior programs.
• Assist in lifting physically disabled children.
• Work with children to improve eating, dressing, hygiene and toileting skills.
• Stimulate language through receptive and expressive language programs, and/or augmentative communication strategies.
• Keep data as required by the specialist.
• Keep teaching materials and other equipment in order.
• Prepare bulletin boards, room decorations and other materials as requested.
• Assist with playground and bus duty.
• Complete data entry, typing and filing as requested by the specialist.
