Job summary

UNC Wilmington is seeking a SHRA Temporary Recycling Technician (Pool) to collect recyclable materials from campus, sort items, and prepare recyclables for market. You will operate balers, forklifts, and box trucks, and educate patrons on proper recycling techniques. Minimum requirements include a valid NC driver’s license and ability to perform physical work.

Qualifications

• Some knowledge of cleaning procedures and ability to perform medium to heavy physical work.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Physical stamina to work long periods in an outside environment.

Responsibilities

• Collect recyclable materials from designated areas across campus.
• Sort paper, plastic, metal, glass and specialty materials.
• Prepare recyclables for market by baling, palletizing, or containerizing and weighing them.
• Load and unload bales and containers for transport.
• Maintain cleanliness and operation of the recycling facilities and MRF.
• Educate patrons on proper recycling techniques and rules.
• Operate recycling equipment and vehicles (baling machines, forklifts, box trucks).
• Answer questions and promote the recycling program to campus and public.
