Job summary

WorkGenius is seeking a Temp Associate Designer in New York, NY, to advance furniture concepts from research through production-ready packages. You will prepare detailed design packages for vendors and partners, ensuring consistency with brand direction and milestones.

Qualified candidates have 4–6 years in furniture or industrial design, proficiency in CAD and design tools, and strong sketching and communication skills to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in Furniture Design, Industrial Design or related field preferred, with approximately 4–6 years of relevant professional experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Rhino, Photoshop and Illustrator, with the ability to create clear 2D drawings, presentations and concept renderings.
• Strong sketching, visual communication and concept-to-production development skills.
• Highly detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects independently in a deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

• Support seasonal furniture concept development from initial research and inspiration through design execution, including sketching, material references and visual direction.
• Prepare internal presentations and translate approved concepts into clear design packages for vendors, manufacturers and license partners, including drawings, artwork, materials and reference imagery.
• Maintain organized communication of design direction, revisions and approvals, incorporating feedback throughout the development process.
• Research furniture typologies, historical references, materials, finishes and market trends; review samples and prototypes and communicate design refinements.
• Coordinate with the Furniture Design team, vendors and license partners to support project milestones, maintain brand consistency and organize design files, samples and studio materials.

Requirements

• Degree in Furniture Design, Industrial Design or a related field preferred, with approximately 4–6 years of relevant professional experience.
• Strong furniture design sensibility and knowledge of proportion, materials, construction and finishes.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Rhino, Photoshop and Illustrator, with the ability to create clear 2D drawings, presentations and concept renderings.
• Strong sketching, visual communication and concept-to-production development skills.
• Highly detail-oriented and organized, with strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects independently and collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment.
