Job summary
stevemaddencareers is seeking a Temporary Apparel Designer for a 2–3 month assignment in New York City, on-site. The role focuses on creating and maintaining Excel-based tech packs and supporting technical design and product development with a strong eye for garment construction.
The ideal candidate has 5–7 years in apparel design, experience designing dresses in the contemporary RTW market, and expertise in Excel and Adobe Illustrator.
Qualifications
- 5–7 years of apparel design experience in the contemporary RTW market.
- Experience designing dresses and women’s ready-to-wear.
- Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design (preferred).
- Strong proficiency in Excel-based tech packs.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator.
- Ability to create clean, accurate technical flats.
- Understanding of garment construction, fit, fabrication, and technical specs.
- Ability to provide detailed construction callouts.
Responsibilities
- Create, update, and maintain detailed Excel tech packs for apparel styles.
- Develop accurate technical specifications, measurements and construction callouts.
- Sketch garment flats using Adobe Illustrator.
- Update seasonal linesheets as needed.
- Collaborate with Design to communicate details to vendors.
- Review and update tech packs based on samples and changes.
- Support product development tasks as deadlines require.
- Manage multiple styles and deadlines with precision.
