Job summary

Mercor is seeking PDF Annotation & Transcription Experts – Telugu for a remote contract role. You will source Telugu PDFs, annotate structure, transcribe text in Telugu script, and record metadata.

Requirements include native Telugu, document annotation experience, and meticulousness. Knowledge of OCR correction and Unicode helpful.

Qualifications

• Native fluency in Telugu, including full command of the Telugu script.
• Experience with document annotation, transcription, or related fields.
• Attention to detail with character-level accuracy.
• Systematic approach to applying taxonomy across pages.
• Comfort with unfamiliar layouts like multi-column newspapers and handwritten forms.

Responsibilities

• Record relationships by linking regions to their parent components (figures, tables).
• Transcribe text faithfully in Telugu script, flag illegible regions.
• Capture page metadata: language, document type, source, dimensions, flags for tables, formulas, handwriting.
• Review colleagues' work in end-to-end quality checks.

Position: PDF Annotation & Transcription Experts – Telugu
Type: Contract
Compensation: $13/hour
Location: Remote

Role Responsibilities

• Source documents by finding publicly accessible Telugu PDFs with multimodal elements. Record the source of each document.
• Annotate structure by identifying and bounding every meaningful region of the page. Assign each a component type and reading-order index.
• Record relationships by linking each region to its parent component, such as a figure or table.
• Transcribe text faithfully in Telugu script, including handwritten content. Flag any illegible regions.
• Capture page metadata including language, document type, source, page dimensions, and flags for tables, formulas, and handwriting.
• Review a colleague's work thoroughly. Experienced annotators take on end-to-end reviews.
