POSITION SUMMARY

The Teller Supervisor serves as the leader of the teller team by delivering exceptional customer service, accurately processing complex financial transactions, and ensuring the efficient operation of the teller line. In addition to performing all Lead Teller responsibilities, this position provides day-to-day supervision and support for the teller team through coaching, operational insight, and performance management while ensuring compliance with bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements and supporting the overall success of the branch.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Supervise the daily activities of the teller team by providing direction, coaching, and support to ensure efficient operations, exceptional customer service, and adherence to established procedures.
  • Support the hiring, onboarding, training, and ongoing development of tellers while fostering a positive, collaborative, and high-performing team environment.
  • Assist the Branch Manager with teller scheduling, staffing coordination, and workload distribution to support efficient branch operations and appropriate service levels.
  • Provide input to the Branch Manager regarding teller performance, coaching, development, and performance evaluations, and assist with performance improvement efforts as directed.
  • Oversee vault operations, ATM management, cash recyclers, cash ordering, cash inventory, and dual control procedures while ensuring compliance with established cash handling and security standards.
  • Actively participate in branch audits related to teller operations and functions by providing documentation, resolving findings, and developing or supporting corrective actions, as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate expertise in bank products and services by leading referral efforts, promoting relationship-building, and coaching team members to identify customer financial needs and deliver meaningful customer conversations.
  • Review and approve wires and official checks within established authority limits, ensuring compliance with applicable bank policies and procedures.

  • Exercise advanced judgment when resolving complex customer transactions, operational concerns, and escalated issues to help mitigate fraud and loss while protecting customers and the bank.
  • Monitor teller operations to ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, balancing standards, and operational controls, addressing operational concerns through coaching, follow-up, and timely communication with the Branch Manager, as appropriate.
  • Serve as the primary operational resource for teller line activities by providing guidance, resolving operational questions, and communicating recommendations and concerns to branch leadership.
  • May open and maintain consumer deposit accounts following successful completion of required training and authorization, as branch needs require.
  • Support branch goals by working collaboratively with team members and performing additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: Demonstrated expertise in teller operations, customer service, and branch procedures, typically developed through at least 7 years of successful banking experience with progressively increasing leadership responsibilities.

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and make informed decisions while balancing operational needs, employee development, and customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, coach, develop, and motivate team members while fostering a collaborative, customer-focused work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead operational excellence by identifying improvement opportunities, managing operational risk, and promoting consistent adherence to established policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with branch leadership regarding teller performance, operational concerns, staffing needs, and development opportunities.
