The Teller I conducts transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently while meeting or exceeding service quality standards. This position safeguards bank assets assigned to them, contributing to the bank’s growth by promoting and cross‑selling bank products and services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Receives, pays out cash, and handles negotiable items, loan payments, deposits, withdrawals, and transfers; performed daily (≈15% of time).
  • Sets up, closes, and balances teller station; performed daily (≈10% of time).
  • Records sales of monetary instruments; performed daily (≈5% of time).
  • Assists customers with inquiries in person or by telephone; performed daily (≈10% of time).
  • Maintains a neat and well‑stocked teller area; performed weekly (≈5% of time).
  • Cross‑sells bank products and services; performed as needed (≈5% of time).
  • Follows limits established for the protection of customer accounts and bank safety and soundness; performed daily (≈5% of time).
  • Adheres to bank policies and procedures; performed daily (≈5% of time).
  • Lifts coin bags up to 50 lbs.; performed as needed (≈5% of time).
  • Assists with balancing vault, ATM, night drop, and coin machine; performed as needed (≈5% of time).
  • Assists with proper scanning of bank documents and proof work; performed as needed (≈5% of time).
  • Exercises judgment when applying holds and making check cashing decisions; performed daily (≈10% of time).
  • Cross‑trains to be available to open basic new consumer accounts; performed as needed (≈5% of time).
  • Adheres to the work schedule and remains flexible in availability; performed daily (≈5% of time).
  • Maintains a positive, friendly, and professional attitude and appearance; performed daily (≈5% of time).
  • May be required to work an alternative location within the region or market; performed as needed.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner; performed daily.
  • Completes required BSA/AML training and other compliance training as assigned; performed quarterly.
  • Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience: Equivalent to four years of high school or GED, with an emphasis during high school in office skills, shop skills, or other relevant areas, plus 0 to 6 months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person‑to‑person and small group situations with customers, clients, the general public, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers; ability to perform these mathematical skills using money and other forms of measurement.

Critical Thinking Skills: Ability to use common sense understanding to carry out simple multi‑step instructions and to deal with standardized situations with limited variables.
