Herring Bank seeks a Teller I to join their team in providing outstanding service to customers. This entry-level position involves essential banking tasks and customer support, with opportunities for growth within the retail banking sector. At Herring Bank, our mission is to build “Relationships for a Lifetime”; Teller I serves as the face of the bank, providing excellent customer service while performing routine banking transactions such as deposits, withdrawals, payments, and check cashing. This role is foundational to understanding the bank's operations and is designed for individuals looking to grow within the retail banking environment.
Key Responsibilities
· Process routine financial transactions accurately and efficiently.
· Balance cash drawer daily and verify end-of-day totals.
· Identify potential fraud or unusual account activity.
· Refer customers to appropriate bank services and staff.
· Assist with night depository duties and ATM errors.
· Promote bank products and services when appropriate.
· Follow all bank policies and procedures, including compliance requirements.
· Complete training on phone procedures and call queue system; consistently log in, answer incoming calls professionally, directing or transfer callers to the appropriate department or team member.
· Assist customers with basic online banking inquiries such as password resets, account navigation, and troubleshooting common login issues.
· Greet customers promptly and professionally; provide excellent service.
· Participate in branch opening/closing procedures and maintain branch security standards.
Qualifications
· High school diploma or GED.
· 6 months of teller experience or 1 year of related customer service and cash handling experience.
· Proven ability to deliver excellent customer service.
Requirements
· Basic math and computer skills.
· Effective communication and time management abilities.
· Ability to work scheduled shifts and maintain punctual attendance.
