Salinas Valley Health in Salinas, CA, is seeking a Unit Assistant II for the 4T Telemetry department. You’ll monitor cardiac rhythms, manage patient records, and assist with department supplies in a fast-paced hospital unit.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, with EKG rhythm recognition and CN/A MA preference; 1 year acute care experience is preferred. Night shift with union NUHW, 0.9 FTE, 36 scheduled hours per week.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; EKG Rhythm recognition course required; Medical Assistant or CNA program preferred.
• Experience in acute care is preferred.
• Attends and passes recognition exams; maintains competency annually.

Responsibilities

• Monitors telemetry patient’s cardiac rhythm, blood pressure, SpO2, and respiratory rate while on telemetry monitoring.
• Prints rhythm strips every 4 hours for RN interpretation and for critical alarms per policy.
• Maintains patient records.
• Assists with ordering and maintaining department supplies.
• Uses positive communication to resolve conflicts and support teamwork.
• Maintains organization and operations of nursing stations.
• Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
• Contributes to cost-effective patient care by monitoring time, equipment and supplies.
• Complies with safety policies to provide a safe environment for staff, patients and visitors.
• Demonstrates flexibility with changes in hospital or department activities.
• Participates in achieving departmental goals.
• Applies knowledge of cardiac monitor guidelines.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
