The ideal candidate has 9+ years in space systems, a BS (advanced degree preferred), and an active Top Secret/SCI clearance with polygraph. Travel up to 10% is required.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in space and ground data networks, satellite control, and TT&C
  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance and polygraph; must meet SCI and SAP access requirements
  • Experience with modeling and simulation to inform force design metrics
  • Travel is 10%

Responsibilities

  • Support SWAC Force Design analytic efforts, testing and improving software for cognitive assessment and constructive analysis
  • Evaluate, modify, and test models in SPySE and other software tools
  • Collaborate with fellow industry SMEs to deliver informed models
  • Improve user interfaces for operators and communicate TT&C requirements for satellite tasking
  • Create written and presentation products from analytic results
  • Build products using Microsoft Office

Job description

SSI is seeking a Telemetry, Tracking & Satellite Control SME for a role in Colorado Springs, CO.

The qualified applicant will support the Space Warfighting Analysis Center (SWAC) with various lines of effort to include, but not limited to, modeling, constructive simulation, prototyping, data analytics and visualizations, visual storytelling, and human-in-the-loop analytic efforts. Specifically, the applicant will serve as a subject matter expert on space and ground data networks, satellite control, and telemetry, tracking, and commanding (TT&C) architectures and the associated requirements of satellite architectures.

The applicant will serve as a liaison between SWAC’s Spectrum Warfare Program (SWP) and Space Security and Defense Program (SSDP) to ensure that SWP architectures and models are represented accurately in SWAC and SSDP analysis and human-in-the-loop analytic events.

The applicant will work with SWAC, program offices, IC partners, and the rest of the USSF to gather information to model and represent capabilities required for analytic efforts.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Support and facilitate SWAC Force Design analytic efforts, testing and improving software for cognitive assessment and constructive analysis
  • Evaluate, modify, and test models in SPySE and other software tools
  • Collaborate with fellow industry Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to deliver the best-informed models
  • Improve user interfaces for operators, and communicate TT&C and satellite control requirements to inform satellite tasking
  • Take results from analytic efforts and create written and presentation products
  • Build products using Microsoft Office
Required Qualifications
  • Must have overall min 9 years of experience, with a BS degree; will consider education instead of a degree.
  • 5+ years of experience in space and ground data networks, satellite control, and TT&C
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree minimum, advanced degree preferred, in space-relevant engineering or science field (e.g., Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Materials, Communications, Physics, etc.)
  • Experience in / background in orbital mechanics and space control
  • Ability to use modeling and simulation to analyze and inform force design metrics
  • Familiarity with the use of native cloud solutions such as Azure, etc
  • Ability to self-identify and execute work tasks
  • Demonstrate the ability to apply analytic problem-solving skills to operational and strategic-level problems, accurately translate technical information for leadership, and establish partnering relationships and coordinate across external organizations
  • Must possess an active Top Secret/SCI clearance and polygraph
  • Must meet all requirements for SCI and SAP access
  • Travel is 10%

Target salary range: $160,000 - $200,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors. We offer medical/dental/vision benefits and 401k contribution.
