Job Description

Reports to and is under the general supervision of the Manager and/or Assistant Manager of MS7. The Telemetry Technician monitors cardiac rhythms, records pertinent data, and reports abnormalities to the medical team.

Responsibilities

• Monitor cardiac rhythms, recording pertinent data, and reporting abnormalities to the medical team in accordance with established protocols.
• Apply knowledge of age‑related differences and needs of patients from neonate through adolescence to practice.
• Demonstrate cultural sensitivity in all interactions with coworkers, patients, and family members.
• Support the mission, values, and goals of the organization through consistent behavior aligned with Connecticut Children’s standards.
• Understand and follow Connecticut Children’s policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience Required

• Successful completion of a telemetry technician program with a certificate or equivalent documentation.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of Connecticut Children’s Cardiac Monitor Technician Training within 30 days of hire.
• Minimum 1 year of related job experience working in a telemetry role.
• Basic familiarity with computers and web‑based applications, and Microsoft Office.

License and/or Certifications Required

• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training certification required within 3 months of hire and maintained thereafter.
• CPR/BLS for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross preferred at time of hire.

• Ability to learn basic medical terminology, mathematics, and measurements.
