Job summary

MercyOne Health System is hiring a Unit Secretary/Monitor Tech for the 12-hour night shift on a 0.9 FTE schedule (36 hours/week) from 6:00pm to 6:30am. You will perform clerical duties, monitor cardiac rhythms, transcribe physician orders, and support patient care on a nursing unit.

• High school diploma or GED preferred; CNA registry encouraged where applicable.
• BLS certification required within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter.
• Mandatory reporting training completed within 6 months of hire and every 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Perform clerical duties and receptionist tasks on the nursing unit.
• Observe cardiac monitors and interpret rhythms; transcribe orders.
• Record vital signs and reports; transport patients and obtain medications or records as needed.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and confidential environment; communicate care effectively.

As a Unit Secretary/Monitor Tech you will performs clerical and receptionist duties andobservesthe cardiac monitors within a specific nursing unit. Transcribes physician orders and performs computer activities . Consistent with the Mission of MercyOne , Vision of Patient Care Services, evidence-based standards of care, and established policies and procedures.

Schedule:

• Full time, 0.9 FTE (36 hours per week)
• 6:00pm - 6:30am
• Every third weekend and holiday rotation

General Requirements:

• Clerical skills and ability to effectively utilize written and oral communications.
• Demonstrate ability to understand and follow directions.
• Demonstrates ability to interpret cardiac rhythm and operate monitor equipment.
• Record and report information such as vital signs, intake and output, weight, and any behavioral changes to appropriate supervisory personnel.
• Maintain, assemble, and organize equipment needed for a safe secure environment.
• Perform additional duties as requested such as transporting patients and obtaining medications, supplies, and medical records from other departments.
• Demonstrate a caring practice by respecting the rights of an individual or group.
• Demonstrate ability to impact change within your department and with other departments.
• Demonstrate skills as an effective team member.
• Respect the confidentiality of an individual or group, unless obligated to disclose under proper authorization or legal compulsion.

Education:

• Must be 17 years of age. May berequired to be 18 years of ag e in some areas.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred. All Certified Nursing Assistants are encouraged to belong to the National Nursing Aide Registry. In certain areas, participation in the registry is required .
• Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is r equired within 6 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter.
• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) will be required within 30 days of hire and every year thereafter.
