Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Monitor Technician Program completion is required.
• Less than 1 year of experience in emergencies and maintaining continuous cardiac rhythm strips is required.

Responsibilities

• Documents rhythm every two hours on the EKG flow sheet and reports changes to the nurse.
• Maintains and coordinates monitor strips at shift start and places dated strips on the flow sheet.
• Maintains Monitor Console operation and ensures paper loaders are full.
• Verifies and adjusts alarm limits for each patient and ensures alarms stay on.
• Provides verbal reports to relief staff and patient reports to oncoming technicians.
• Participates in quality and service improvement teams with the department.
