Job summary

Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs is seeking a Monitor Tech (Health Unit Coordinator II) for night shifts. The role involves telemetry monitoring, clerical duties, and supporting nursing staff on a hospital unit. Strong rhythm interpretation and organization are essential.

Responsibilities include maintaining telemetry, documenting strips, managing calls, and assisting physicians and staff while ensuring patient records are accurate and readily accessible.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to understand complex written and oral instructions.
• Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills toward all clients.
• Demands require working in a fast paced environment with frequent interruptions and remaining calm under stress.
• Must possess excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and organize work load independently.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and interprets cardiac rhythms of patients on telemetric equipment.
• Maintains and ensures alarms are on with appropriate parameters.
• Documents rhythm strips with patient data and time.
• Transcribes orders accurately into system; follows downtime procedures.
• Assists RN and hospital staff; provides end of shift reports and communicates patient needs.
• Maintains patient records and equipment, and helps with non-clinical nursing tasks.
