Job summary

AdventHealth in Ocala, FL is seeking a Monitor Technician to support telemetry monitoring and patient care on a day shift. You will document trends, notify nursing staff of abnormal patterns, and uphold infection control standards while collaborating with the healthcare team.

The role requires basic arrhythmia knowledge, good English communication, and reliable computer skills; onboarding includes the Monitor Technician training program and a commitment to continuous learning.

Qualifications

• Monitor technician experience or successful completion of AdventHealth Monitor Technician training program or equivalent.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak conversational English.
• Proficiency in the English language.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Pleasant telephone manner and organizational skills.
• Ability to work with patients/public in potentially difficult situations.
• Completion of basic arrhythmias identification course in orientation.
• Good oral, written, and communication skills.
• Ability to continuously prioritize multiple duties.
• Familiar with medical terminology and arrhythmia identification.
• Ability to learn and complete a competency skill check off list within 90 days.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and overtime.
• Customer service skills.
• Specialized knowledge of hospital nursing practices, telemetry, and infection control.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates behavior aligned with company values.
• Documents per department policy and maintains telemetry logbook.
• Observes monitors, documents rhythm patterns, and notifies nursing staff of abnormalities.
• Maintains monitor alarms per policy and troubleshoots as needed.
• Participates in performance improvement activities and quality initiatives.
• Learns and upgrades skills; performs other duties to ensure smooth department operation.
• Maintains telemetry printouts during cardiac events.
• Communicates patient status effectively to the healthcare team.
• Keeps work area clean, organized, and equipment sanitized.
• Participates in ongoing education and training to stay current.
