Job summary

UF Health North in Jacksonville, FL seeks a part-time Monitor/EMU Tech to continuously monitor telemetry and EKG rhythms. You will recognize dysrhythmias, notify RNs of changes, and maintain rhythm strips and equipment for EMU patients.

Requires GED/HS diploma; 90-day EKG/Dysrhythmia course; 6-month unit training. Prior experience is preferred but not required, with potential involvement in epilepsy monitoring and patient safety.

Qualifications

• Required: GED or High School Diploma.
• Preferred: PCA, Medic Corpsman, or nursing student who completed first clinical rotation.
• Must complete an EKG/Dysrhythmia course within 90 days of hire.
• Must attend unit-based courses related to the specialized area.
• Less than one year of related healthcare experience required.

Responsibilities

• Continuously monitor cardiac telemetry and EKG rhythms for assigned patients.
• Recognize and identify cardiac dysrhythmias and rhythm changes.
• Immediately notify the RN of changes in heart rate or rhythm.
• Produce and maintain telemetry rhythm strips for documentation.
• Inventory, troubleshoot, and maintain telemetry equipment and monitors.
• Observe EMU patients for seizure activity and document findings.
• Notify RN of seizure activity or significant events.
• Ensure EMU equipment is maintained, functional, and stocked.
• Support continuous patient monitoring with accurate documentation.
