Job summary

Eastside Medical Center in Snellville, GA is seeking a Monitor Technician for full-time night shifts (7 pm–7 am, 3 nights per week) to monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs. The role requires reading rhythms and arrhythmias and notifying medical staff of abnormalities.

Responsibilities include continuous ECG monitoring, accurate rhythm interpretation, maintaining telemetry equipment and logs, and timely communication with nurses and staff.

Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or GED required.
  • 1 year of experience as a monitor technician preferred.
  • CCMTT certification preferred.
  • PHC telemetry monitoring competency assessment within 30 days of hire is required.

Responsibilities

  • Continuously observes patients' heart activity and vital signs.
  • Interprets data and notifies medical staff of abnormalities.
  • Performs continuous ECG monitoring through assessment of EKG strips and rhythm interpretation.
  • Maintains inventories, supplies, hardware and telemetry transmitters in working condition.
  • Reports malfunctions promptly and documents rhythms in the medical record.
  • Maintains logs for tracking telemetry locations.
  • Communicates timely patient information to the nurse.
  • Serves as a resource for staff and students in rhythm interpretation.
  • Demonstrates competency in basic cardiac rhythms assessment.

Overview

Monitor Tech, Full Time Nights

7 pm- 7am 3 x per week

Snellville, GA

Must have prior experience with reading rhythms and arrhythmias, testing at interview

Continuously observes patients heart activity and vital signs, interpreting data and notifying medical staff of abnormalities

Responsibilities

Possesses knowledge and ability to provide continuous ECG monitoring through assessment of EKG strips and accurate interpretation of cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias interpretation including: measurement of P-R intervals, QRS widths, and ST segment deviations. Possesses troubleshooting skills to recognize monitoring problems, identifies probable causes, and seeks solutions to correct the problem. Responsible for maintaining inventories, supplies, hardware and telemetry transmitters in working condition and responsible for appropriately reporting malfunctions promptly as applicable.

Responsible for accurate documentation and measurement of cardiac rhythms and ensures placement in the medical record.

Accepts responsibility for maintenance of the hardware, telemetry transmitters and maintenance of logs for tracking telemetry locations.

Recognizes and communicates timely pertinent patient information to the nurse, including changes in cardiac rhythm and dysrhythmias.

Serves as a resource person for staff members, students and float personnel in the identification and interpretation of cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias

Demonstrates and maintains skills to assess basic cardiac rhythms, including but not limited to pulse oximetry.

Maintain par levels of inventories, supplies, telemetry transmitters and associated equipment. Cleans and restocks as applicable.

Performs unit secretarial functions if required, and as needed (i.e. Answers phone, stuff charts, answers call-light, places order entries).

Demonstrate competency at time of hire (and annually thereafter) in accurate interpretation of cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias and interval measurements

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • None
  • 1 year of experience as a monitor technician Preferred

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of cardiac rhythms/basic EKG interpretation. Certification as a Certified Cardiac Monitor Telemetry Technician (CCMTT) through the American Education Certification Association or Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician (CRAT) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International is preferred. Successful completion of PHC telemetry monitoring competency assessment within 30 days of hire is required. One (1) year of experience as a monitor technician is preferred.
