WakeMed is seeking a Dispatcher responsible for managing 9-1-1 and non-emergency transport requests based on patient needs. This role involves prioritizing calls, monitoring mobile units, and maintaining operational awareness. Ideal candidates possess a high school diploma or equivalent, with an Associate's degree preferred.
Responsible for receiving and dispatching 9-1-1 and non-emergency requests for patient transport based on patient acuity. Evaluates and prioritizes calls for service and dispatches the appropriate personnel and equipment. Uses a computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system to monitor and update Mobile Critical Care Services units. Monitors several frequencies using the RCS 800 Mhz radio system, transmits vital response information to field units, and processes field requests as they are received. Maintains situational awareness regarding weather and other incidents in the area to keep field units and management informed of noteworthy activity. Maintains and updates reference logs in the Communications Center and performs other duties as assigned.
