Job summary

HDR is seeking a Telecommunications/Security Designer II to design integrated low voltage systems for complex facilities. You will calculate loads, design UPS and single-line diagrams, and produce full construction documents for projects.

You will work with project teams to ensure designs meet owner expectations and regulatory standards. The role requires 5+ years in low-voltage design, with certifications like RCDD/PSP, Autodesk familiarity, and data center or healthcare experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in low-voltage system design.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Design integrated low voltage systems for buildings and data centers.

In the role of Telecommunications/Security Designer II, we'll count on you to:
  • Design integrated low voltage systems
  • Calculate electrical power loads, determine UPS requirements and design of system‑related single line diagrams
  • Complete set of construction documents
  • Understand that assignments have objectives that require investigation of many variables
  • Independently perform low voltage technology system/electrical engineering assignments with broad general instruction from Project Manager as to the results expected
  • Write specifications covering all low voltage technology system matters, perform reviews and work directly with owners as a part of project team
  • Assist other Designers, Project Coordinators or technicians as needed, and be responsible for work in all phases of the low voltage technology design process
  • Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Project Coordinators or Technicians as needed
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Candidates with 7+ years of experience are strongly encouraged to apply. Final level and scope of the role may be determined based on the selected candidate's qualifications, skills, and experience.
  • RCDD (Registered Communication Distribution Designer) Certification.
  • PSP Certification
  • Familiarity with Autodesk platforms
  • Experience in Data Centers and Healthcare systems preferred
  • Ability to obtain/maintain government security clearance
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or combination of education and relevant experience
  • Minimum 5 years experience in low-voltage system design
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
