Job summary

Mass General Brigham's Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary is seeking a patient-focused front desk/ switchboard associate to manage calls, provide information, and support hospital operations. The role requires strong communication and rapid prioritization in a busy environment.

Onsite at 243-245 Charles Street, you will handle paging, messages, and alarm responses, with 40 hours weekly and a starting pay range around $17.71–$22.15 per hour.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required
• Experience in lieu of degree is not accepted
• 2–3 years of customer service or call-center experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Handle both incoming and outgoing calls with speed and accuracy
• Demonstrate familiarity with all code-emergency situations and the appropriate procedure to alert proper personnel and record occurrences as required
• Act as central control for mobile pagers, take and relay messages as required
• Respond to various alarm systems located at the switchboard
• Issue keys that are kept at the switchboard to authorized personnel. Maintain an accurate log as to the disposition of these keys
• Compile on-call information for hospital personnel and all meetings scheduled in the building
• Resolve basic discrepanes and refer all others to the appropriate department

Job Summary

Summary Responsible for facilitating proficient operation of a hospital communication system. Does this position require Patient Care? No. Essential Functions-Perform various clerical duties and operate computer equipment including the switchboard console, alphamate pager, voice-paging system, portable radios, and cellular telephone and provide information to callers and visitors.

• Handle both incoming and outgoing calls with speed and accuracy.
• Demonstrate familiarity with all code-emergency situations and the appropriate procedure to alert proper personnel and record occurrences as required. Code situations include but are not limited to medical emergency, security alert, fire, and disaster.
• Act as central control for mobile pagers, take and relay messages as required.
• Respond to various alarm systems located at the switchboard.
• Issue keys that are kept at the switchboard to authorized personnel. Maintain an accurate log as to the disposition of these keys.
• Compile on-call information for hospital personnel and all meetings scheduled in the building.
