Job summary

TEKsystems in Laurel, MD is seeking a Telecommunications Network Engineer to support DoD contracts and expand capabilities. This contract-to-hire role focuses on PDS assessment, DoD compliance, network design, and coordinating site scheduling and teams.

You will lead project reviews, work withContracts and facilities, perform pre-construction checks, and ensure secure, compliant IT infrastructure for both unclassified and classified environments.

Qualifications

• BICSI certification or equivalent experience required.
• RCDD certification or extensive design experience preferred.
• Minimum 5 years in high-speed network cabling and IT facilities design.
• Revit experience is required for modeling and layouts.
• Familiarity with DoD standards related to IT infrastructure.
• Security clearance is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of PDS and IT infrastructure for DoD contracts.
• Assess conduit pathways and ensure compliance with DoD requirements.
• Gather IT infrastructure requirements (pathways, spaces, cable, power, cooling).
• Prepare floor plans, rack elevations, SOWs, budgets and schedules.
• Present designs to team and customers; coordinate with contracts and facilities.
• Perform pre-construction reviews, QC checks, and site inspections.
• Coordinate construction and implementation for unclassified and classified networks.
• Schedule site surveys, security escorts, and customer inspections.
