What you’ll do as a Telecommunications Lineman

• Install and repair aerial telecommunications cables
• Safely use hand tools and equipment such as wrenches, drills, ladders, lanyards, saws, lashers, climbing hooks, and more
• Operate mechanized equipment like bucket trucks, digger derricks, excavators, etc.
• Direct traffic flow following DOT guidelines
• Work aloft using climbing hooks and ladders
• Work at multiple locations
• Maintain safe working habits according to all regulations and policies

What you’ll need

• Be 18 years or older
• Authorization to work in the U.S.
• Valid driver’s license
• Experience as a lineman installing aerial and underground telecommunication cables (fiber and coax) in OSP and ISP environments
• Ability to climb utility poles, work in bucket trucks, and climb poles up to 40 feet

Physical abilities & exposures

• Extended periods of standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 50 pounds
• Work in extreme weather conditions such as heat, cold, rain, ice, snow, wind
