Job summary

Swanson Rink is seeking an experienced engineer to design telecommunications cable infrastructure and security systems for complex buildings and campuses, including data centers and airports. You will create detailed layouts for Voice/Data/Wi‑Fi, CCTV, and access control, and coordinate with clients, engineers, and construction teams.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or related field, EI/EIT certification, 5+ years of telecom design, knowledge of TIA/EIA,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field from four‑year college/university (preferred).
• Certification as an EI/EIT required.
• Consulting engineering experience with 5+ years of telecommunication systems design experience.
• Knowledgeable in industry standards including TIA/EIA, BICSI and IEEE.
• Must be available to travel occasionally.
• Requires the ability to pass background checks, security screenings or drug testing as required by our clients and/or Federal contracts.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Design telecommunications cable infrastructure to support IP based connections including Voice, Data, Wi‑Fi, Audio Visual, CCTV, Access Control, and Intrusion Detection. This includes detailed internal building layouts, as well as exterior campus connectivity.
• Design electronic security systems including Video Surveillance and Analytics, Access Control, and Intrusion Detection.
• Design specifications, configuration, and commissioning of large scale local, integrated, and network-based systems.
• Regularly interact with clients, engineers, and architects, as well as construction teams to proactively solve problems.
• Provide construction oversite, including specification and contract drawing compliance, conduct site visits and formulate construction observation reports.
• Stay up to date on the latest technology and trends in the industry.
