Job summary

SLG Services, Inc. is seeking a Telecom Lineman to install, maintain, and troubleshoot aerial telecom plant, including fiber and coax, by climbing poles and operating bucket trucks. You will work as part of a crew to safely install, splice, and test lines in accordance with industry standards.

The role requires reading construction prints and schematics, following NESC clearances, and documenting daily work orders while prioritizing safety and quality in every task.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as an aerial lineman or in telecom, cable, or utility construction.
• Demonstrated ability to safely climb poles and work at heights (40+ feet).
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle record; ability to obtain DOT medical certification.
• Working knowledge of aerial construction methods, tools, and safety equipment.
• Mechanical aptitude and strong hand-eye coordination.
• Ability to read maps, prints, and schematics.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check, and MVR review.

Responsibilities

• Install, relocate, splice, and maintain aerial fiber optic and coaxial cable and related hardware.
• Climb utility poles using proper climbing gear and technique, or operate bucket/aerial lift trucks to access aerial plant.
• Read and interpret construction prints, staking sheets, and engineering schematics to determine job scope.
• Place, lash, and tension aerial cable in accordance with NESC clearance and sag requirements.
• Perform splicing, termination, and testing of fiber and coax cable as required.
• Troubleshoot and repair service outages and signal-quality issues in the field.
• Coordinate with groundhands and the foreman to safely stage material and equipment.
• Inspect poles, anchors, and hardware for safe working condition prior to climbing or working aloft.
• Operate and maintain company vehicles, aerial lift trucks, and hand/power tools.
• Follow all safety procedures, including fall protection, PPE use, and traffic control.
• Complete daily job documentation, including work orders, material usage, and as-built records.
