Job summary

USIC is seeking an entry-level Telecom Line Worker to support construction and maintenance of line projects, including overhead and underground work. You will learn to read plans, install and maintain telecom poles and fiber optics, and work with teams to meet project requirements while following safety standards.

Starting pay ranges from $20.00 to $25.00 per hour, with relocation assistance available. Benefits include training, insurance options, a 401(k) match, PTO, and career growth

Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license with ability to obtain CDL; CDL preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or related work experience is a plus.
  • Solid knowledge of utility design, construction and maintenance safety standards and procedures.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required licenses/certifications.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, self-motivated and able to work with others.
  • Demonstrated leadership by coaching and directing less-experienced coworkers.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a DOT Medical Examiner's Card (DOT Card).
  • Ability to climb utility poles and work from an aerial lift device.
  • Ability to lift 100 lbs occasionally and up to 50 lbs frequently.
  • Ability to work outside in all weather and conditions.
  • Ability to operate/drive all trade-related equipment/vehicles.
  • Visual color distinction and hearing ability are required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop knowledge of construction safety and maintenance standards.
  • Under supervision, expand knowledge of line work following safety guidelines.
  • Work around energized lines and equipment (overhead/underground).
  • Assist in installation and maintenance of telecom poles/structures and fiber optic cable.
  • Read sketches, diagrams, and work plans for projects.
  • Collaborate with internal/external teams to meet requirements and schedules.
  • Maintain flexible schedule including overtime and emergencies.
  • Assist in other duties and exhibit leadership when required.
